Data quality at a global scale in biodiversity informatics
Join us for a talk with Dr Martin Westgate (Atlas of Living Australia) during his Churchill Fellowship visit across Europe.
His focus: data quality at a global scale in biodiversity informatics.
Global biodiversity databases are critical for research and conservation, but ensuring their quality is a growing challenge. How do we manage errors, inconsistencies, and uncertainty across millions of records from diverse sources?
Dr Westgate will explore how we can strengthen data systems by embedding transparency, peer review, and explicit treatment of uncertainty directly into biodiversity infrastructures. This is key to building trust in data, improving decisions, and enabling effective global collaboration.
